Sázavská Apartment Building

One of the first multi-story wooden apartment buildings constructed in the Czech Republic was built in Žďár nad Sázavou.

The project, designed by the architectural firm Kuba & Pilař architekti s.r.o., utilizes a modern structural system made of solid CLT panels, which combines sustainability with a high degree of prefabrication.

The complex of two four-story apartment buildings offers a total of 34 residential units and is complemented by a spacious courtyard with landscaping, community features, and space for residents’ leisure activities. The total built-up area of both buildings is approximately 1,030 m². The load-bearing structure of the residential section and the balconies is made of CLT panels, while the circulation core consists of prefabricated reinforced concrete panels. Construction was completed in 2025.

The project was published in the professional journal DesignMag and is currently nominated for the Czech Architecture Award.
