Gymnasium Duhovka – a new school in the heart of Břevnov

In the heart of Prague’s Břevnov district, we are preparing a brand new project of a private high school Duhovka, which will expand the educational activities of the renowned Duhovka Group. It already successfully operates a primary school in Prague 6 and a grammar school in Prague 7.

Modern Montessori education

The new gymnasium will be built on the principles of Montessori pedagogy, with an emphasis on the personal development of students, promoting their self-confidence and intrinsic motivation. The project provides a generous and modern space for education and community life of the school.

Main parameters of the project

• 24 tribal and specialised classrooms
• Sports hall ingeniously hidden in the hillside, almost invisible from the surrounding streets
• Sensitive urban integration into the environment of the residential neighbourhoods of the 1950s
• Connection to neighbouring campuses and sports facilities
• Greenery and community space: terrace, pedestrian green street Jílkova, gardens and relaxation zones

Environmentally responsible building

A four-storey building with one underground floor and a total gross floor area of 7,500 m² will be built on a plot of approximately 5,000 m². The project is designed in accordance with the principles of energy-efficient operation – it uses ground boreholes as the main source of heat, including for the neighbouring primary school.

Architecture and team

The author of the design is the renowned studio RA15 (arch. Radek Lampa), the project was developed by ONN architects. The resulting building sensitively combines contemporary expression, functionality and respect for the surrounding context.
